Information bulletin “Changes in the names of geographical features of the Republic of Belarus”.
Information bulletin is a list of changes in the names of geographical objects of the Republic of Belarus for a certain period.
Information bulletin “Changes in the names of geographical features of the Republic of Belarus” is prepared and annually updated by order of the State Committee on Property of the Republic of Belarus from December 17, 2008 No. 04-2-7/84.
The purpose of the Information Bulletin is to ensure correct spelling of names of geographical features in the Russian and Belarusian languages in all legislative acts, official documents and reference materials.
This information is of interest for:
- public authorities;
- public and private mapping organizations;
- publishers and editorial offices producing reference and educational literature on geography, economics, etc.;
- mass media;
- research and other organizations.
The information bulletin is based on the regulatory acts – decrees of the President of the Republic of Belarus, resolutions of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, decisions of regional and district councils of deputies and other documents.
The Bulletin contains four sections.
1. List of changed names of geographical features.
2. List of names of geographical features that have changed the type of the feature.
3. List of names of geographical features that have ceased to exist.
4. List of names assigned to new geographical features.
Section 1. List of changed names of geographical features
This section includes:
- former name of the geographical feature in the Russian language;
- the type of the geographical feature;
- new name of the geographical object in Russian and Belarusian;
- administrative-territorial reference of the geographical object (region, district; district, settlement or village Council of Deputies);
- date of the legal act;
- number of the legal act.
Section 2. List of names of geographical features that have changed the type of the feature
This section includes:
- registration number under which the name of the geographical feature is registered in the State Catalogue;
- name of the geographical feature;
- former and new type of geographical feature;
- administrative and territorial reference of the geographical feature (region, district; district, settlement or rural council of deputies);
- nomenclature of a topographic map sheet of scale 1:100,000, on which the geographical feature is shown;
- date of the legal act;
- number of the legal act.
Section 3. List of names of geographical features that have ceased to exist
This section includes:
- registration number under which the name of the geographical feature is registered in the State Catalogue;
- name of the geographical feature;
- type of geographical feature;
- administrative and territorial reference of the geographical feature (region, district; district, settlement or rural council of deputies);
- nomenclature of a topographic map sheet of scale 1:100,000, on which the geographical feature is shown;
- date of the legal act;
- number of the legal act;
- note (the reason for ceasing to exist is specified).
Section 4. List of names assigned to new geographical features
This section includes:
- registration number under which the name of the geographical feature is registered in the State Catalogue;
- name of the geographical feature;
- type of geographical feature;
- administrative and territorial reference of the geographical feature (region, district; district, settlement or rural council of deputies);
- nomenclature of a topographic map sheet of scale 1:100,000, on which the geographical feature is shown;
- date of the legal act;
- number of the legal act;
- note (contains necessary explanations).
The Information Bulletin is updated annually. All information is presented in tables in alphabetical order.
