TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS AND PLANS
In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Belarus dated July 14, 2008 No. 396-Z “On geodetic and cartographic activities” in the new edition:
- A topographic map is a detailed cartographic representation of the terrain jn a plan at a certain scale, which allows determining both horizontal and vertical position of points on the earth's surface.
- A topographic plan is a large-scale cartographic representation on the plane in orthogonal projection of a limited area of the terrain, within which the curvature of the ground plane is disregarded.
- State topographic maps and state topographic plans are topographic maps and topographic plans of an established scale range, created (published) by state specialized organizations.
Topographic maps and plans are designed for detailed study and evaluation of terrain, targeting and land navigation, various design and survey work, construction projects support, land management, forest management, mining, flying operations and other both civil and military activities.
Topographic maps and plans can be provided in digital and analogue forms.
